GREENVILLE, Miss.–Washington County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man they believe responsible for the improper disposal of three bodies found in a storage unit.
The bodies were discovered along East Reed Rd. in Beauchamp, said Chief Deputy Billy Barber.
Though the department now says three bodies were found, Al Creath, 31, the owner of Creath Memorial, a funeral home in Greenville, was arrested and charged with two counts of improper desecration of a corpse.
Barber did not say what evidence pointed to Creath. He expects Creath to face more charges.
The identities of the people were not released.
“The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who may be affected by this tragic situation,” said Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons.
“I have full confidence in the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, other local and state law enforcement and investigative agencies, who are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this case. We will ensure that all necessary resources are made available to support their efforts in uncovering the truth and bringing justice to those involved,” he said.
