GREENWOOD, Miss.–Gov. Tate Reeves is being sued by the Chancery Clerk of LeFlore County for setting a special election for that office for April 16.
Reeves said in a Facebook post that a retired judge assigned to look into the August 8, primary election determined there were multiple kinds and instances of election fraud.
Chancery Clerk Johnny Gary has sued, saying in court documents that he believes state law requires the special election must be held on the date of the next general election, which will be in November. If he is successful with the suit, Gary would hold office until at least then.
Gary also said that 90 days notice must also be given before a special election. Reeves set the special election in February.
Reeves also set a special election for District 4 Supervisor for LeFlore County.
