GREENVILLE, Miss. — The Greenville Fire Department has teamed up with the American Red Cross to aid hundreds of people. The department has installed 300 smoke detectors in homes and is promoting the Keep Warm, Keep Safe Campaign.
Chief Ruben Brown says that as temperatures drop, the risk of fires increases. In addition to installing smoke detectors, the department also provides safety tips to families during the installation process. These tips include the proper use of fire extinguishers, escape plans and the best ways to evacuate a home or room in case of a fire.
According to Brown, the department’s goal is to not only protect families from fires but to educate them on fire safety. The Keep Warm, Keep Safe Campaign aims to ensure that families have the knowledge and resources to stay safe during the colder months.
