The administration, district officials, and leadership of the Greenville Public School District (GPSD) have initiated an investigation into alleged testing irregularities within one of its schools.

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) revealed that MDE invalidated 934 Spring 2023 state assessment results following a thorough investigation.

One of the implicated schools in Mississippi is GPSD’s Em Boyd Elementary School, located at 1021 South Colorado Street. Boyd Elementary is one of 12 schools in the state alleged to have experienced irregularities in connection with the state assessment, specifically concerning 5th-grade English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics testing.

District-led investigations in the Greenville, Hollandale, and Wilkinson school districts did not identify any school personnel who violated test security rules. However, based on forensic evidence of testing irregularities, MDE has initiated test security and educator misconduct investigations in these districts.

Dr. Janice Monroe, GPSD’s Interim Superintendent, emphasized the district’s commitment to addressing this matter seriously. She stated, “I am pleased to announce that Greenville Public Schools has extensively researched and gathered several pieces of evidence and artifacts which were submitted to the Mississippi Department of Education in a timely manner. On this journey of excellence, we must remain vigilant while keeping our focus on our most important resource, and that’s the children. As we move forward, we, with transparency, will provide updates to our parents, staff, and students as information becomes available to us. Our students are our top priority and must not lose sight of that.”
