Firefighters battled a fire at a vacant house on Arnold Avenue in Greenville caused by arson.
The blaze started at approximately 9:32 a.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a single-story, wood-framed structure already heavily engulfed in flames, according to reports from the scene.
The rescue team members, including Command 1, Rescue 2, Ladder 3, and Rescue 7, worked to contain the fire using a defensive tactic. Rescue2 deployed pre-connected fire hoses and worked on the rear of the home, while Ladder 3 was set up for aerial operations.
It took hours for the firefighters to extinguish the flames completely, and after the fire had been put out, authorities declared that the house was a victim of arson.
The State Fire Marshal, Chief Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Marshal, and Fire Investigator were called to the scene and dispatched to investigate the cause of the fire.
“If you have any information about this fire, please contact us at 662-378-1616 or 662-820-0480,” authorities said in a statement.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released.
