GREENVILLE, Miss. — The City of Greenville, in partnership with the Mississippi Children’s Museum, is inviting local students to take part in an interactive traveling exhibit designed to bring American history to life.
The exhibit, titled “Story to Stage: America250,” will be hosted at the Washington County Library System and officially opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the William Alexander Percy Library. It will remain on display through May 12.
Organizers said Greenville is the first stop on the exhibit’s tour this year. The event is free and open to the public.
Mayor Errick D. Simmons is encouraging area school districts to participate by bringing up to 30 students per school to Wednesday’s opening event.
Designed primarily for students in grades one through five, the exhibit combines storytelling, history and hands-on activities. It is part of a broader effort to commemorate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Through interactive displays and performance-based learning, students will explore themes such as bravery, freedom, citizenship and generosity, while engaging in creative and collaborative exercises.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to experience history in a way that is both educational and memorable,” Simmons said in a statement. “We encourage all schools to take part in this engaging program that blends learning with creativity.”
City officials said the initiative reflects Greenville’s ongoing partnership with local schools and its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for students across the community.
