GREENVILLE, Miss. — Two men were arrested Jan. 7 in connection with suspected copper thefts following a traffic investigation on South Washington Avenue, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Officers responded to the 700 block of S. Washington Avenue after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers observed two men inside the vehicle and discovered burglary tools in their possession. Police said the tools are consistent with those used in recent thefts of copper wiring reported throughout the city.

The suspects were identified as 27-year-old Julio Ortiz of Greenville and 40-year-old Bryan Bridges of Anguilla. Both men were arrested and charged with possession of burglary tools, along with several misdemeanor offenses.
Ortiz and Bridges are being held pending their initial appearances before a judge.
