GREENVILLE, Miss.–The Gun Violence Reduction Initiative is working, at least to some degree, in cutting down on violent crime in Greenville, said a news release from Greenville Police.
The number of calls related to gun violence is down by 42 percent in the past two weeks, according to police data.
Police are also making more arrests related to guns and drugs since the curfew has been in place, making more than 50 such arrests, also taking 17 illegal guns, which include seven rifles, modified to be fully automatic.
Police acknowledge that despite the progress, more work is due.
