GREENVILLE, Miss.–New water meters are being installed in Greenville and the head of the water department believes that might be the key to more improvements in collecting the amount that is billed.
“The last three years have really rallied and come around and they’re pretty much, we’re billing and collecting all the time. The last three years have been better than the prior five years,” he said at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
He estimates that installation will be complete in about another year.
“They’ve done a little over 4,000 and they started in July and if you just kind of interpolate that forward with the issues they’ve had already, you’re looking at that being about January of 26,” he said.
One issue to overcome is lousy software that interprets the readings. But, that issue is also expected to be resolved.
