YAZOO COUNTY, MS — A Greewnood man was injured in a fatal crash on Highway 49 near Carter Hill Road in Yazoo County Thursday afternoon. The Mississippi Highway Patrol says an International tractor truck driven by Dennis Haymer of Greenwood was traveling southbound, when a Nissan pickup truck crossed over from the northbound lanes into the southbound lane and hit the 18-wheeler head-on. The driver of the pickup truck, 30-year-old Adam Jones of Yazoo County, died at the scene. A passenger in Jones vehicle was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Haymer was taken to Baptist Medical Center Yazoo for treatment.
