CLEVELAND, Miss.–Severe storms moved over Delta counties this morning, dumping rain and bringing high winds. The National Weather Service says some of the consequences of the heavy rain could be river flooding.
“Rainfall totals could exceed anywhere between one to three inches across the area,” said National Weather Service forecaster Christopher Rainer.
With the ground already saturated, that could lead to flash flooding. But, some rivers are also already up.
“We do have a few rivers that are currently up to minor flood stage,” he said. “A few rivers could get up to moderate flood stage.”
While the rain is expected to taper off Friday night, you will likely see more Sunday.
