GREENWOOD, Miss.–While some people in the Delta got a temporary cooldown with storms Wednesday and an expected high in the low 90s Thursday, intense heat is expected to return to this part of the state by Friday.
“As we go from Friday into the weekend and continuing into Monday,” said National Weather Service Forecaster Eric Carpenter, “We’ve already had several days so far this summer with heat indices getting above 110 in some cases and we’re definitely expecting heat indices to reach up to 110 this weekend. But, don’t be surprised to see a few locations get even hotter than that.”
While June is typically the driest month in Mississippi, you could see some storms with the heat this weekend, with 30 and 40 percent chances in the afternoons.
