STATE WDE–The Highway Patrol says their mission is to prevent fatal wrecks.
They announced the Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period stretches from Wednesday to Sunday.
Troopers will be looking for speeders, distracted drivers and people who aren’t wearing their seatbelts.
“The Mississippi Highway Patrol urges everyone to drive responsibly and enjoy a safe Thanksgiving with family and friends,” said James Ivory, Lt. Colonel of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
“We are dedicated to enhancing public safety through strict enforcement of traffic laws in partnership with other law enforcement agencies. Our primary goal is to prevent vehicle crashes by maintaining a strong presence on state and federal highways.”
Three people died last year and there were 169 wrecks across the state. More than 100 people were arrested on DUI charges.
