INDIANOLA, Miss.–The three people murdered Saturday afternoon in Indianola have been identified to the public. Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton said the people killed were Steve Scott, 76, his wife Sarah Scott, 73, and Vanessa Cassandra Hollins, 65.
The couple was found outside a house on Janet Davis Circle, just before 1 p.m. Saturday. Hollins was found inside the house.
All had been shot and all of them died on the scene, said Burton.
Alton Williams, 36, of Indianola, who was the Scotts’ grandson, was arrested after he was located in a nearby vehicle.
Police have not discussed a motive for the murder.
An official statement has been released from the Williams family that states:
“There are no words to express the heartbreak and loss we feel from the tragic deaths of Steve, Sarah and Vanessa. They were our father, mother, grandparents, uncle, aunts, cousins and dear friend. They were beloved for their dedication to us and this community. We’ve all seen the devastation that mental health related tragedies have brought to so many families across the country, and now it’s at our front door. Despite our efforts and love, the unforeseen has taken place. We ask for your prayers and for privacy as we work through this with the Lord.”
