GREENVILLE, Miss.–Overall, violent crime is down, say Greenville Police, posting Thursday on the department’s Facebook page about crime after the curfew has been in effect for more than two months.
Police Chief Marcus Turner said violent crime was down 79 percent since the implementation of the curfew.
He presented those stats to the city council this week.
“This is progress to the ultimate goal of a safer community, which is the first step to growth in the Port City,” said Turner.
“Let’s continue working together to make our community one of the safest in Mississippi,” added the post from the police department.
