GREENWOOD, Miss.–It was only a test. The message saying that there was an emergency at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital, was just a test of a new notification system, said the hospital in a Facebook post. That was two hours after the original warning notification went out.

“Please DO NOT come to GLH until we have announced that our current EMERGENCY SITUATION has been resolved,” read the ominous post.

A later post said the situation had been resolved, but no explanation was given.

Two hours later an explanation was posted to Facebook.

“In regards to today’s emergency situation messaging: We are testing our notification of our lockdown procedures regarding any potential hospital-related incidents that might affect the safety of our patients, employees and the community,” read the post. “Today’s messaging was an initial test of out security and safety measures for lockdown procedures due to the increased incidences of violence in our community.”

A call by Delta Radio to the hospital went unreturned. Greenwood Police had no comment.
