JACKSON, Miss.–If you’ve been keeping up with the Medicaid expansion story, you should know the first joint meeting between the state House and Senate on the matter was held Tuesday.
The conference committee has begun talks on a compromise between the House plan, which is close to full expansion and the Senate plan, which is more conservative and would make fewer people eligible for state health insurance than the House plan.
The talks Tuesday were mostly both sides presenting their case to one another, with some discussion on how it might be funded. Some of that funding could come from the federal government for at least two years, under an incentive plan that essentially pays states to expand eligibility.
