GREENVILLE, Miss. — A man was airlifted to another medical facility after being assaulted early Sunday in the parking lot of a Greenville nightclub, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Police said officers responded around early Sunday morning, March 8, to the 1300 block of U.S. Highway 82 East at the Rack & Cue nightclub in reference to an assault.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a sheriff’s deputy who said the male victim had earlier been escorted out of the club before being assaulted a short time later.

According to police, the victim told officers he was attacked in the parking lot by an unknown man after leaving the club. He was initially transported to Delta Health System for treatment but was later airlifted to another facility for additional medical care.

Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a dark-colored sweater or hoodie.

Authorities said several witnesses were at the scene but have not yet come forward with information.
