BYHALIA, Miss.–The man who was arrested after a toddler named Edyardo, was shot in the head in Marshall County early Monday, is facing several charges, including felony child abuse, attempted murder, aggravated assault and domestic violence.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Dept. says Edyardo Montero and the woman with whom he was in a relationship were in the process of breaking up when he pulled a gun. During that physical altercation the two-year-old was struck in the head when the gun went off as he lat in the bed.
The child’s condition was extremely critical. He was taken to a hospital in Memphis, where he remained as of Wednesday afternoon.
Montero was granted a $2 million bond. It was unclear if he was able to bond out of jail.
