GREENVILLE, Miss.–Michael Stephney, Jr., remains in prison following a decision by the Mississippi Court of Appeals to deny his appeal this week. Stephney was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2018 murder of Victor Hallman.
Stephney argued that he should have been granted a separate trial from his son, whose case was ultimately dismissed.
His current lawyers also argued that his trial counsel was ineffective.
Stephney was convicted on second degree murder and attempted murder charges.
