GREENWOOD, Miss.–Eleven people have died in Mississippi because of the winter storm. Most of those deaths happened in the Delta. The latest deaths reported were in Sunflower and Panola counties.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency did not offer any details about those deaths.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says two of those deaths were related to road conditions in Leflore County. Willie Traylor, 54, and Frederick Washington, 32, both of Greenwood, died when their Chevy Malibu ran off of Hwy. 82 and hit a tree.
People also died from the weather itself or from other related causes in Rolling Fork, and Washington and Humphreys counties in addition to Rankin and Chickasaw counties.
