MOUND BAYOU, Miss. — The Mound Bayou Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead and another man injured Sunday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched about 2:10 p.m. Sept. 20 to the 500 block of Stringer Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired, according to the police department.
Officers found two male victims at the scene. Armad Gant of Mound Bayou was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man suffered a superficial gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken by ambulance to Bolivar Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.
The Mound Bayou Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators have identified multiple suspects in connection with the shooting. Charges are pending as the investigation continues, police said.
The motive remains under investigation.
