GREENVILLE, Miss.–The new regional maintenance facility at the Greenville Mid-Delta Regional Airport was the subject of remarks made by Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons, during a panel discussion Tuesday at the White House.
Simmons was invited to speak on the results of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Rural Partners Network, the launch of which was in the Delta.
“The federal government is there for us, but it hears us, as well,” said Simmons, before explaining that the money for the airport project has come from a variety of sources, including federal partners.
“To me the gotcha moment was the announcement with DRA making a $2.5 million project that’s gonna create 200 jobs in the Delta,” said Simmons.
The panel included mayors and leaders from different parts of the country, and included a discussion with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
