OXFORD, Miss.–A man from Ocean Springs has been charged with causing a wreck while driving the wrong way to flee an attempted pull-over by police in Oxford.

The incident happened Monday when an officer tried to pull over Kelsey Jennings, 39, on Hwy. 334. Jennings waited until the officer approached his vehicle, then sped off, turning onto Hwy. 6, then going the wrong way and hitting a car in the process.

When Jennings turned off the highway first onto South Lamar his car gave out because of damage from the wreck. He turned onto Johnson Ave., then took off running and was caught, say police.

Jennings is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, careless driving and driving with no seatbelt.
