Omicron Taking It’s Toll On Mississippi

Today MSDH is reporting an additional 6,774 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 16 deaths.

Eleven deaths occurred between December 31 and January 6, and five deaths occurred between August 17 and December 28, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases is now 586,547, with 10,527 deaths.

Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 6 additional COVID-19 cases in residents of long-term care facilities and no additional deaths. There are currently 275 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
