COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss. — A two-vehicle crash involving entrapment on U.S. Highways 49 and 61 North sent multiple people to the hospital Friday afternoon, including one person who was airlifted with serious injuries, officials said.
The Coahoma County Fire Department and Pafford EMS responded to the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m. after reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment. Emergency crews found one individual trapped inside a vehicle with significant traumatic injuries.
According to the fire department’s public information officer, multiple patients were treated at the scene and transported by paramedics. One individual required air transport for advanced medical care.
Images from the scene showed heavy damage to at least one SUV and an overturned trailer near the intersection, as well as a helicopter and multiple emergency vehicles present.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
