WASHINGTON COUNTY, Miss. — A fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 61 claimed the life of a Mississippi man, authorities said. The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the incident at approximately 5:59 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024. According to reports, a 2010 Ford F-150, driven by 43-year-old David McCollum of Leland, collided with a 2021 Prevost X3-45, driven by 60-year-old Clara Butler of Cleveland, both vehicles traveling south. McCollum sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
