One Injured in Domestic Shooting in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Miss. — A Greenville man has been charged after a woman was shot in what police described as a domestic incident early Tuesday morning.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department responded around 5:28 a.m. Feb. 10 to Delta Health Systems in reference to a shooting victim, according to a news release. When officers arrived, they made contact with a woman in the trauma unit who said she had been shot in the shoulder by her ex-boyfriend.

Police said the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. at the victim’s residence in the 700 block of Fairview Street.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officers took the suspect into custody a short time later near McAllister Street and U.S. Highway 82.

Authorities identified the suspect as 37-year-old Cordale Barnes of Greenville. He is charged with domestic aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Barnes is being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility awaiting his initial court appearance.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
