HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. — A Durant man was killed and another person was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 51 south of Goodman, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 6:37 p.m. when a 2004 Honda Accord driven by 69-year-old Larry Ray Horton of Durant left the roadway and struck an embankment.
Horton was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 62-year-old Alonzo Freeman of Goodman, was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
