OXFORD, Miss.–A woman in Oxford has been arrested and charged with pointing a gun at a police officer’s head as he tried to bust up a fight between two men in a convenience store parking lot early Sunday.
Jaqueline Giles, 36, is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and having a stolen gun.
According to a news release, the fight happened in a Double Quick parking lot just before 2 a.m. The officer was trying to pull one man off of the other when Giles pointed the gun at his temple. The officer was able to take the gun away.

“This incident should remind everyone why law enforcement says nothing is ever routine,” said Police Chief Matthew McCutchen.

“There’s a reason why we stay on alert. There’s a reason why we take every call serious. There’s a reason why more than one officer shows up on a stop or a call.”

Giles was given a $275,000 bond.
