CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A portion of Issaquena Avenue in downtown Clarksdale will be renamed in honor of Grammy-nominated rapper and Clarksdale native Rick Ross.
The official naming ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in front of the WingStop located at 300 Issaquena Ave., city officials said. Ross is expected to attend.
The announcement follows the city’s usual vetting process, with a meeting set for noon the same day.
Ross, known for hits such as “Hustlin’” and his influential role in Southern hip-hop, has roots in Clarksdale and has invested in the community, including opening a local Wing Stop franchise.
