ROLLING FORK, Miss.–Halloween in the Delta will come with the strongest rain chances Mississippi has seen in more than a month. It will also come with a chance for severe weather.
“Well, it’s unfortunate. It looks like there may be some corridors of nicer, clear weather for trick-or-treating. But, overall, it looks like, especially west of 55, we’re gonna get rained out,” said National Weather Service forecaster Orion Jones.
The chances for rough weather will be isolated, he said.
“We are looking for mostly relegated to the western half of the state,” he said. “Really between 5 and 8 p.m. will be the best chance, it looks like, right now.”
Those are almost the exact hours for trick-or-treating in most communities.
Jones said he does not expect to see any tornadoes with the system.
“I don’t think we’re gonna be looking for any tornadoes because the [wind] shear profile is not quite what we’d like to see for something like that,” he said.
The rain is not expected to exceed one inch and is also not expected to affect the drought much.
