CLEVELAND, Miss. — Hip-hop artist Waka Flocka Flame will headline SpringFest at Delta State University on March 19, bringing a high-energy concert to campus as part of the university’s annual Go Green Weekend celebration.
The event, sponsored by the university’s Delta State University Student Government Association, will feature a live concert at 9 p.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum. The performance is open to the public and is expected to draw fans from across the Mississippi Delta and surrounding region.
Waka Flocka Flame gained national attention in the early 2010s with chart-topping tracks such as the platinum single “No Hands,” known for its high-energy sound and popularity in clubs and arenas.
SpringFest activities will begin at 4 p.m. in the coliseum’s front parking lot with music, food and student activities designed primarily for Delta State students.
At 5 p.m., the university’s National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations will present an NPHC Yard Show featuring step routines and coordinated performances. The event is a new addition to Go Green Weekend and highlights the culture and traditions of historically Black fraternities and sororities.
“SpringFest represents the energy, creativity and leadership of our students,” said Eddie Lovin, vice president for student affairs at Delta State. He credited the Student Government Association for organizing the event and creating an opportunity to celebrate school spirit while welcoming the broader Delta community and prospective students to campus.
SpringFest and Thursday night’s concert serve as the official kickoff to Go Green Weekend, which runs March 19–22 and includes athletic competitions, alumni gatherings and other campus events.
