HERNANDO, Miss.–A $5,000 reward is being offered for credible info that leads to the capture of Joshua James Zimmerman, the career criminal who was able to escape custody of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Dept. at the courthouse in Hernando Friday morning.
The reward is coming from U.S. Marshals, who say Zimmerman is wanted in Houston, Texas for possible involvement in a fatal shooting.
Zimmerman had been arrested in Southaven on attempted murder charges and for other felonies and escaped while attending a court hearing.
Sheriff Thomas Tuggle admitted in a Facebook post this weekend that Zimmerman may no longer be in the area. He has ties to Connecticut and Memphis.
“The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office will not stop searching for Zimmerman. He will be apprehended. If you come into contact with Zimmerman, do not approach him. Please call authorities immediately,” reads the post.
Zimmerman is Black, 5 ft. 11, and in his most recent picture has a beard. He may have shaved that beard. If you see him, call U.S. Marshals or DeSoto County deputies.
