CLEVELAND, Miss. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting at Shopping City in Cleveland that left a 12-year-old girl dead and two others injured.
Ricky Williams, 30, of Cleveland, was taken into custody Thursday and appeared before a Cleveland Municipal Court judge for an initial appearance, according to the Cleveland Police Department.
Williams is charged with murder, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm within the city limits and shooting into a gathering. His bond was denied after the court determined he posed a danger to the community. He is being held at the Bolivar County Correctional Facility.
Police previously charged Tiajon Butler in connection with the July 12 shooting. Butler faces charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within the city limits. His bond was also denied.
The shooting occurred near the Citi Trends and Dollar Tree stores at Shopping City on South Street. Police said a verbal argument between two men escalated into gunfire, striking three people. A 12-year-old girl died at the scene, while two others were injured.
The investigation remains ongoing.
