SENATOBIA, Miss.–Senatobia’s Board of Alderman voted Tuesday night not to reappoint police chief Richard Chandler.
WREG TV reports the city’s mayor did not agree with the board’s decision and it was unclear who would be in charge of the police department until a permanent chief is appointed.
The TV station reported that some incidents where the police have been accused of misconduct may have motivated the decision, even though police were proven to be justified in some of those incidents.
Mayor Greg Graves said in a statement that crimes has been reduced since Chandler took over the position in 2020.
