BELZONI, Miss.–Severe weather is again a possibility, as a cold front is expected to linger and not push through the area until Tuesday.
“Late into the afternoon and into the first part of the evening. That’ll be when we see the best potential for severe weather,” said National Weather Service Jackson office forecaster Alan Campbell.
The best chance for Delta counties will be in the southern part of the Delta. But, most of the area has at least some risk.
“Damaging straight-line winds of up to 70 mph, as well as the potential for quarter to golf ball sized haul, and a tornado cannot be ruled out either,” said Campbell in describing the threat.
He said the storms could potentially last through Tuesday morning, when the front is expected to finally push through Mississippi. Some of central and northeast Mississippi are still recovering from last week’;s storms, which mostly spared the Delta.
