YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Severe weather is possible Friday and Friday night in the south Delta. Another weather system is expected to bring lots of rain and the possibility of flash flooding, along with the possibility of hail and damaging winds.
Mike Edmunston, forecaster with the National Weather Service Jackson office says you could still see some cold weather. But, for now the pattern is wet and warm.
“I’d say green up!” he said. “You’ve seen the grass green. The trees are definitely getting fuzzy and they’ll be crating pollen.”
He said the possibility of more cold weather depends on any break in the current pattern.
“We can’t rule out a pretty strong cold front that may come down and on the back side, may get the temperatures down around freezing or a little bit below,” he said.
But, that’s not happening this week.
