GREENVILLE, Miss.–You can expect the possibility of severe weather Monday afternoon and evening in the Delta.
“We have almost a typical type of spring storm setup,” said Mike Edmunston, senior forecaster with the National Weather Service Jackson office. “It doesn’t look like it’s gonna be widespread significant, but you’ll have a damaging wind threat and a tornado threat across our whole area.”
A wind advisory had been issued for the area Sunday morning.
“The main threat’ll be a line of strong to severe thunderstorms. The main threat with the line will be damaging wind threats. But, there will be bowing segments and maybe some broken parts of the line that will produce tornado threats, as well,” said Edmunston.
You can expect the storms to move into the Delta in the afternoon and sweep eastward, bringing heavy rain to the area.
Edmunston said most of the rivers have receded since the last storm system moved through, reducing the threat of river flooding. But, people who live in flood prone areas should be aware that heavy rain will be moving through.Rain is expected to last through Tuesday morning.
