On December 13, 2023, the Cleveland Police Department responded to shots fired at Double Quick on U.S. 61 North. 34-year-old Ladarius Byrd, a resident, sustained a gunshot wound to the upper chest. Byrd provided a statement to officers before being airlifted to a Memphis hospital, where he is now in stable condition. Though the investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made, and several persons of interest have been identified.
