LAMONT, MS — Bolivar County Deputies were dispatched to St. Joseph Church on Sunday, September 22, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they learned that Rafael Boykin of Arcola had been shot and was transported to Delta Regional Hospital before being airlifted to Jackson for further treatment. Witnesses indicated that Sammy Mays, formerly of Greenville, is the suspected shooter. Mays has been charged with aggravated assault.
