Special Elections Set for Nov. 4 to Fill Vacated Mississippi Legislative Seats

CLARKSDALE, Miss.–Special elections have been set for Nov. 4 for seats in the Mississippi House and Senate, including the seat left vacant by Orlando Paden, who was sworn in June 30 as mayor of Clarksdale.

Reeves set the elections for House District 26, to replace Paden. He represented parts of Bolivar, Sunflower and Coahoma counties.

One of the elections will also be held to replace state Sen. David Jordan in Senate District 24. Jordan announced during the special legislative session this summer that he would be retiring from the state legislature.

He represented parts of Leflore, Panola and Tallahatchie counties.

State Sen. John Hohrn will also be replaced in a special election in Senate District 26. He was sworn in in last week as mayor of Jackson.
