State Can Expect Extreme Temperatures

GREENVILLE, Miss-After several days as the hottest part of the state, the Delta may be giving up that status. The heat is not going away, but National Weather Service forecaster Daniel Lamb says the most serious heat is expanding across the state.

Excessive heat warnings have been the order of the day, with actual temperatures near 100 and heat indices approaching or exceeding 110.

“Based on our forecast there’s a chance that those warnings will expand to include a larger portion of the state. So, don’t be surprised if that happens later on this week,” said Lamb.
Lamb said the extreme heat will likely hold on through at least the first part of the weekend before highs start to recede back to the norms, which are in the low to mid 90s.
You’re reminded to stay hydrated, check on pets and make sure they’re cool. Check on neighbors. Take frequent breaks or stay in the air conditioning if you can, and wear light-colored clothes.
