CLEVELAND, Miss.–Fires throughout the southern states have caused a haze in the air that can be not only seen, but breathed in, in the Delta.
The smoke is being pushed here by the wind, causing “high particle pollution levels” and lower air quality in the area. In fact the entire lower Mississippi Valley is experiencing the effects from the smoke.
The haze and smoke are expected to remain through Wednesday. But, Thursday’s rain may help suppress the pollution levels.
