Today MSDH is reporting an additional 22,456 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 17 deaths for the four-day period January 14 – 17, 2022.
Eleven of these deaths occurred between January 13 and January 14, and six additional deaths occurred between October 29, 2021, and December 31, 2021, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases is now 657,084, with 10,642 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 58 additional COVID-19 cases in residents of long-term care facilities and no additional deaths. There are currently 302 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.

Fully vaccinated individuals with a current booster dose are the most highly protected against severe illness from the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
