GREENWOOD, Miss.–State Sen. David Jordan has decided to step down from the state Senate and from public office.
Jordan, 92, of Greenwood, made the announcement during last week’s special legislative session, saying he will resign by the end of this month.
Jordan, who is a former teacher from Greenwood, and a longtime member of the Black Caucus, serves parts of Leflore, Panola and Tallahatchie counties in the Senate.
He said he believes it’s time to be at home with his wife. They have been married for 71 years.
