On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, around 11:28 pm the Greenville Police Department received a call in reference to a shot person in the 500 blk of North Cornell. Upon the officer’s arrival, they found a black male lying in the living room, unresponsive with several gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was identified as 41yr old Maurice Watson of Greenville. Watson was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Washington County Coroner’s office.

Later into the night, the combined efforts of the Greenville Police Department and Washington County Sheriffs Department yielded the capture of 22yr old Daniel Grace for the murder of Watson.
It appears there was a dispute between Watson and Grace at which time Grace shot Watson at the residence. Grace went before a Judge for his Initial appearance where his bond was set at $300,000. Grace is being held in the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.

Chief Marcus Turner would like to thank Sheriff Milton Gaston and the Washington County Sheriffs Department for their assistance in apprehending Grace.

Grace is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
