TATE COUNTY, Miss.–The Tate County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Tate County Schools would both like to get to the bottom of the bomb threats that have been happening there and they’d ;like anyone with info on who might be making the threats to come forward.
“At this time there are no active threats and no weapons or explosives have been located,” read a press release from the Sheriff’s Dept. Tuesday.
But, there was an active threat Monday that shut down both East Tate Elementary and Independence High school, and that was nowhere near the first time. Several threats have been made over the past month, each causing lost time and each causing the sheriff’s dept. to have to search schools to give the all clear.
“We encourage parents to talk to their children about the importance of coming forward with any information that may assist in our investigation,” said Tuesday’s press release.
The department acknowledged that the perpetrators may turn out to be kids.
“Please note that if the responsible individual(s) turn out to be minors, Mississippi law dictates that Youth Court proceedings are kept confidential.”
