Teen Wanted in Clarksdale Homicide, Domestic Violence Shooting

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A 16-year-old suspect is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured Sunday night in Clarksdale, according to police.

The Clarksdale Police Department said officers responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. May 11 to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Lynn Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the elbow. She was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to Regional One Health for additional treatment.
Officers also located 26-year-old Tyrun Walker, identified as the woman’s ex-boyfriend, suffering from gunshot wounds. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said multiple witnesses identified 16-year-old Emmanuel Higgins Jr. as the suspected shooter and reported that he fled the area following the incident.

Police have issued arrest warrants charging Higgins with murder and domestic aggravated assault. Authorities believe he is currently in hiding and warned that anyone found assisting him could face criminal charges.
