CLEVELAND, Miss.–You can expect the possibility of localized flooding as heavy rain falls over the next several days in the Delta.
“Any areas that will have more localized and shorter duration of heavy rain could have some potential for flash flooding,” said National Weather Service Jackson office lead forecaster David Cox.
Delta counties are right in the target for the heaviest rain expected this week, which will likely be Wednesday and Thursday. Cox said there is a small potential for severe weather to accompany that.
Overall though, he said this week’s rain will actually go to help a Delta that is still relatively dry from this summer’s drought.
|”This will definitely make a dent,” he said. “One of the things is because we had such a significant drought over the past summer, it could alleviate significant concerns for flooding.
